TURA, March 1 - Five people, including four NGO activists from Rongjeng town in East Garo Hills, were detained by Assam Police while they were on their way back home near Goalpara town in Assam at around 9.30 pm.

Those detained included Arman G Marak, FKJGP president for Rongjeng; JM Sangma, member of the Rongjeng JAC; Tuesbrial Marak, president of GSU of Rongmil and Sengman Marak, member of GSU of Rongjeng, along with a friend from Goalpara.

The persons, who were on a business trip, were first questioned and allowed to go, but then taken to the Goalpara Sadar Police Station.
