Meanwhile, the Sadar subdivision of West Tripura district had to face a lot of hassles in burying the body of a woman who allegedly committed suicide in a toilet attached to the Flu Ward of the GB Pant Hospital yesterday.

According to hospital sources, the 50-year-old woman, Samsur Nehar from Motinagar area of West Tripura district, was admitted to the Flu Ward on Monday morning as she had cold and fever. Later, she was diagnosed as COVID-19 positive. But before she could be shifted to the COVID-19 isolation ward, the woman allegedly hanged herself to death.

But after the post-mortem, her relatives were reluctant to take her body for burial. SDM (Sadar) Asim Saha and AMC Commissioner Shailesh Yadav wanted to bury the body in the Jaypur area, but there was mass resistance by a section of people. Police and TSR jawans had a hard time controlling the situation. The womans body was later taken to her ancestral village, Motinagar, where she was laid to rest.
