4.84 lakh voters to vote in Udalguri dist

UDALGURI, March 24 � A total of 4,84,125 voters, out of which 2,35,572 are female, will exercise their franchise the April 9 BTC elections to elect 10 members from the ten constituencies under Udalguri district.

According to the available information, in 31 Khoirabari (ST) there are 46,107 total voters out of which 22,770 are female, in 32 Bhergaon (ST), there are 45,281 voters, out of it 22,530 are female, in 33 Nonoi Serfang (non-ST reserved), there are 40,880, out of it 19,903 are female, in 34 Khaling Duar (ST), there are 49,307, out of it 24,229 are female, in 39 Mudoibari (open), there are 53,235 which is the largest number of voters, out of it 26,690 are female, in 36 Harisinga (ST), there are 46,128 voters out of which 22791 are female, in 37 Dhansiri (ST), there are 60,663 voters, out of which 24,362 are female in 38 Bhairabkunda (ST), ther are 51,483 voters out of which 24,746 are female, in 39 Panchnoi Serfang (non-ST reserved), there are 50,132 voters, out of which 24,071 are female and in 40 Rowta (ST) constituency there are 50,909 are total voters out of which 24,071 are female.

Security provisions: Talking to mediapersons, AP Tewari, superintendent of police of Udalguri district said that tight security has been ensured for the forthcoming BTC elections in Udalguri district.

He further informed that 13 companies of security forces have already arrived while seven to eight more companies have been sought for smooth conduct of elections. He also said that sectors have been reduced in order to bring a transperancy in mobility of forces and informations from all side.

The Udalguri district administration is taking pains to maintain all types of security to all concerned during the election period, the police officer added. He also sought cooperation from the general public in maintaining law and order during these days.

Nominations filed: The leaders of Bodoland People�s Front (BPF) Hagrama Mohilary, Chandan Brahma, Rihon Daimari and Biswajit Daimary accompanied all the ten candidates of the party while filing their nomonation papers on Tuesday in front of the returning officer of the forthcoming BTC elections to be held on April 9 next in Udalguri district along with other three districts of the BTC.

Later talking to media persons, Hagrama Mohilary the BPF supremo said that his party has good understanding with the Congress and his party will be able to form the next BTC assembly. He also refuted charges of corruption against his party and said that these were the mere allegations of the Opposition.
