472 new cases in Tripura

AGARTALA, Sept 23 - Two more COVID-19 patients died and 472 new positive cases were detected during the past 24 hours in Tripura.

In a bulletin, the State Health Department confirmed the two virus deaths. The COVID-19 toll in Tripura has now risen to 250. Most of the new positive cases were reported from the West Tripura district.

Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath today said the overall COVID-19 situation has improved in the last couple of days with the recovery rate increasing and the fatality rate coming down. The recovery rate has shot up from 60.89 per cent on September 12 to 72.17 per cent on September 22, while the fatality rate has come down from 1.12 per cent on September 18 to 1.10 per cent on September 22.

�The recovery rate has increased by 12 per cent during the past 10 days, which is a big success in the battle against the pandemic,� the minister told media persons.

Nath said the number of active COVID-19 cases has also reduced by 1,000 during the past eight days.

As of now, Tripura has 210 containment zones and as many as 5,433 patients have been put under home isolation, the minister said, reiterating the State Government�s commitment towards controlling the pandemic situation.
