DIBRUGARH, May 2 - The 463rd birth anniversary of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva, the founder of Mayamara Vaisnavism, a social reformer, a religious saint and preacher of Neo Vaisnavism founded by Srimanta Sankardev in medieval Assam, was observed in Dibrugarh University under the sponsorship of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Chair, Department of History, on Saturday at the Aniruddha Bhawan of the university.
The programme, presided over by Nahendra Padun, an eminent litterateur of Assam, was inaugurated by Professor Alak Kumar Buragohain, the Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University.
Dr Sristidhar Dutta, former professor and head of the Department of History and Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences of Rajiv Gandhi Central University, Itanagar, was felicitated for his �commendable contribution towards the understanding of the society and polity of medieval Assam� and Sri Bhabakanta Konwar for his scholarly writings on �Mayamara Vaisnavism and religious philosophy of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva�.
