42 security men among 49 new cases in Mizoram

AIZAWL, Sept 26 - As many as 42 security personnel contracted COVID-19 in Mizoram during the last 24 hours.

According to the State Health Department, these security personnel are among the 49 fresh cases of COVID-19 reported during this period. The COVID-19 tally has now reached 1,835 in Mizoram.

The Health department added that 27 Assam Rifles and 15 BSF personnel are among the fresh cases. The Assam Rifles personnel are posted in Aizawl, while the BSF personnel are posted in Aizawl and Serchhip. All the fresh cases are asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, as of Saturday, there are 546 active cases of COVID-19 in Mizoram.

The Health Department said a total of 70,483 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State till date. The recovery rate increased to 72.18 per cent on Friday from 62.79 per cent.

Comparatively, Mizoram is one of the least affected States due to COVID-19, in the country. However, the State Government has been expressing concern over the rise in the virus cases. It has also voiced concern over the availability of COVID-19 facilities in the State.

Mizoram is the only State in the country which has not reported any COVID-19 fatality till date.
