41 retd teachers feted

BAIHATA CHARIALI, Sept 7 - Forty-one retired teachers of Borka area were felicitated on the occasion of Teacher�s Day at a function held at the Madhya Kampeeth College. The programme was organised under the aegis of Madhya Kamrup Unnayan Pariahad (MKUP) in association with Madhya Kampeeth College and Friendship.

The programme was inaugurated by Dipanka Nath, president of AASU with lamp lighting. In the inaugural speech, the AASU leader said that teaching and learning is a never ending process and if the teachers think of themselves as students trying to acquire new knowledge and imparting education to the society, then the educational environment of the State will get a new momentum. Nath also recalled Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya and Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan for their immense contributions to the history of Indian philosophy and education.

Participating in the programme as guest, Dr Dilip Bora, professor of Gauhati University spoke on the role, responsibility and sacrifice of teachers to the society. In the programme, a total of 41 retired teachers of the area were felicitated.

Earlier, Kishor Kumar Bhattacharya, secretary of the MKUP delivered the welcome address and read out the annual report of the MKUP. Noted singer artistes JP Das, Dwipen Baruah and Samar Hazarika enthralled the public with a number of melodious songs. Pronom, the annual souvenir of the MKUP was also released.
