TEZPUR, March 28 - In the wake of outbreak of COVID-19, the jail authority of Tezpur Central Jail has released 41 inmates today. Jailer, Tezpur Central jail Mrinmoy Dawka informed that recently the Supreme Court of India has directed to release excessive inmates of every jail in the country and as per the direction, 41 jail inmates jailed on charges of various crimes were handed over to the Tezpur Police today.
However among the 41 inmates, 23 inmates will be kept in isolation under the supervision of the Health department and the Tezpur Police.
It is also pertinent to mention here that the Tezpur Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health has also vacated all the wards releasing all the patients as government has prepared the largest Mental Health Institute in the region for coronavirus patients.
