400 projects taken up for rural development

GUWAHATI, Aug 12 - The State government has taken up 400 projects during the last five years for development of rural infrastructure in Assam under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund of NABARD.

In a written reply to a question by AIUDF MLA Abdur Rahman Ajmal in the Legislative Assembly, PWD Minister Ajanta Neog said that of the total projects under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund of NABARD, 85 projects have been completed and the remaining 315 are ongoing.

While 16 projects were taken up in 2010-11, another 108 projects were taken up in 2011-12, 93 projects in 2013-14 and 183 projects in 2014-15.

The Minister added that 364 SPT bridges were converted to RCC bridges in last five years in Assam under various schemes.

Among them, 181 were converted under Mukhya Mantrir Paki Dalong Nirman Achani, 42 under Non Lapsable Central Resource Pool, 64 under RIDF of NABARD, 23 under the Chief Minister�s Special Package Scheme and 54 under untied Special Central Assistance schemes.
