IMPHAL, Jan 3 - One Ch David (21), accused of raping and killing a four year and two month-old girl, was sent to Imphal Sajiwa Central Jail here on Thursday, according to reports. The accused has been booked under Indian Penal Code 302 and 376 under Mao police station in Manipur�s Senapati district.
Ch David, who is said to be a relative of the victim, allegedly raped and killed the little girl of Kavanam village in Senapati district on Christmas-eve at around 6 pm, the report said. According to police, the girl was lured away by the culprit, who was under the influence of alcohol, on the pretext of buying her sweets. Later, he raped her in a cowshed. The body of the girl was found after David was caught by villagers.
The burial of the body was carried out on December 26 following an understanding with the villagers that the accused would be driven out from the village for three years. However, following the filing of a case at Mao Gate Police station, a fresh investigation was carried out by the police along with forensic experts from Imphal. Her body was taken out from the grave on December 28 for post-mortem and forensic test.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that he raped her. As she cried out in pain, he blocked her mouth and nose leading to her death, the report added.
