IMPHAL, Oct 6 � Manipur Police commandos gunned down four suspected militants late last night at Yumnam Khunou Mamangpat, Mutum Yangbi area, about 28 km from here.
Additional SP Isak Shah of Bishnupur district told reporters that one Lethod gun along with a Lethod bomb, two 9mm pistols, two magazine loaded with nine live rounds, one Chinese hand grenade and one mobile phone have been recovered from the slain militants.
He added that one RK Sanayaima of Ishok village of the district, who was in the custody of the suspected militants, was also rescued during the operation.
Meanwhile, two of the four slain militants have been identified while the bodies of two others were still lying unidentified at RIMS mortuary here.
Police suspect the killed ultras were cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Mobile task force). However, unofficial sources alleged that the two identified persons were cultivators.
