4 ULFA(I) workers nabbed

ITANAGAR, Feb 16 - Assam Rifles today apprehended four overground workers (OGWs) of banned outfit ULFA(I) during an operation in Malugaon village under Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Based on preliminary inputs regarding presence of suspected OGWs in Malugaon, the Assam Rifles launched a special operation on Friday morning. During the cordon and search of the suspected area, the four OGWs of ULFA(I) identified as Pradeep Barua (31), Rupam Rajbanshi (27), Munna Shah (20) and Diganta Gogoi (27), all residents of Tinsukia district, were apprehended with one .22 pistol.

On interrogation, the group confessed to supplying weapons from Dimapur to Sadiya and Kakopathar and was previously involved in looting, smuggling and extortion of local populace.

The nabbed persons were being handed over to Margherita Police Station and FIR was lodged.
