SHILLONG, Jan 1 - In a big boost to BJP, four sitting MLAs and a Member of District Council would be joining the saffron party along with their supporters on Tuesday at a public rally at Golflink Grounds here.
The MLAs who would be joining the BJP includes, former Deputy Speaker Sanbor Shullai from Nationalist Congress Party, former Cabinet Minister AL Hek of Congress and Independent legislators Robinus Syngkon and Justine Dkhar. J Pyrthuh, an MDC, would also be joining the party, State BJP president Shibun Lyngdoh said.
The development is a big boost for BJP because a few days back four former MLAs from Garo Hills joined the party. Those who joined the party from Garo Hills were Billykid Sangma, John Manner Marak, Adolf Lu Hitler Marak and Omillo K Sangma.
Adolf and Billykid were former Congress MLAs while John and Omillo were National People�s Party MLAs. The four ex-MLAs in Garo Hills joined the party before Lyngdoh and BJP workers.
The joining function of the four MLAs here would be attended by Union Minister Alphons Kannanthanam, who is in-charge of Meghlaya elections, BJP national general secretary in-charge of North East, Ram Madhav and Assam Minister and Neda convener Himanta Biswa Sarma.
