4 shopping malls served notices in North Lakhimpur

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Nov 2 - Four shopping malls constructed by flaunting existing municipal rules in North Lakhimpur have been served notices by the executive officer, North Lakhimpur Municipality Board.

The executive officer of NLMB, Debasish Goswami, ADC served the notices to Shivam Shoppie, M-Mart, Seema Shoppie and Upahar Market four shopping malls housed in high rise buildings in North Lakhimpur under Section 133 of CrPC and have been given 15 days time to respond. These four buildings were constructed without fulfilling mandatory rules and criteria. The buildings were allowed to be constructed by the corrupt and irresponsible officials of NLMB years ago for which there has been widespread public resentment here in North Lakhimpur. These buildings were constructed without safety measures like emergency exit, toilet facility and most importantly without parking spaces. They were constructed so closely to the public road (NH-15) that there is no space for the expansion of road. For this construction and extension of roads in the town has been affected leading to the unimaginable traffic congestions every day.

Apart from these four buildings, a number of hotels, Vishal Mega Mart and other commercial complexes have been constructed without having the car parking and other mandatory requirements. Similarly, nursing homes are mushrooming in North Lakhimpur without having car parking, sewage outlets and waste insulator. These developments have greatly impeded the progress of North Lakhimpur town as a safe, pollution-free and well-controlled traffic place.
