BONGAIGAON, Jan 29 - The District and Sessions judge, Kajalgaon in Chirang district on Wednesday sentenced four rape accused to 13 years of rigorous imprisonment each along with a fine of Rs 4000 under three separate IPC sections.
The seven accused, all residents of Palpara in Bijni town ward no 4, had raped a 20-year old girl after assaulting her boy friend, with home she was roaming besides Dulani river near the town on May 18 in 2009.
The victim had lodged an FIR at Bijni PS after the incident on the same day and accordingly the police had registered a case (no.113/2009) and swung into action against the accused.
Since three among the seven accused were juveniles, hence their trial was concluded in Bijni sub-divisional court. The rest four accused named Mangal Arya, Chan Mohan Arya, Parameswar Chauhan and Gopal Hari Das were produced at the Chirang district judicial court at Kajalgaon for trial.
