IMPHAL, Nov 26 - Four persons including a 55-year-old male and a 68-year-old male from Imphal West, a 40-year-old male from Bishnupur and a 75-year-old female from Churachandpur died of COVID-19 at the district hospital in Churachandpur, RIMS and JNIMS in Manipur during the last 24 hours, stated an official press release. The cumulative number of virus deaths in the State has now touched 249.
Meanwhile, with 159 new cases, the COVID-19 tally of Manipur increased to 24,292 in the last 24 hours, official sources said here today. The fresh cases include 119 civilians. These cases were confirmed at 24 testing facilities in the State.
The new cases from the general population are from 13 districts including 73 from Imphal West and 43 from Imphal East.
On the other hand, 158 persons were discharged from eight COVID care facilities in the past 24 hours following their recovery.
The numbers of active and recovered cases in Manipur currently stand at 3,245 and 20,798 respectively. The recovery rate of the State is 85.61 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Imphal West district administration has ordered closure of the SBI�s Imphal branch at MG Avenue here for 48 hours with immediate effect. The order was issued after 12 employees of the bank tested positive for COVID-19. The bank manager has also been directed to disinfect the entire office premises.
