4 held for smuggling pigs

DIMAPUR, July 18 - Dimapur Police have arrested four persons at 3rd Mile here on charges of smuggling pigs from Balijan in Karbi Anglong district of Assam. The accused were transporting 12 pigs in a truck, a release issued by the police said today.

The arrested were identified as Bipul Mech (22) of Kushiabil village in Dimapur district, Arun Boro (23) of Magurmurry Rajapathar village under Bakolia PS of Karbi Anglong district, Lipoksunep Ozukum (25) and Sashi Ozukum (33) of Waromong village in Mokokchung district of Nagaland.

A case has been registered at Diphupar PS here under the Epidemic Act, 1897 and the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in Animals Act, 2009.
