4 abductors arrested in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, April 8 � Golaghat district police with the help of Dimapur police arrested four persons on Tuesday for allegedly abducting a three-year-old child from Golaghat district on April 4.

The four had reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore, later negotiated to Rs 20 lakh, for release of the child. However, no ransom money was paid for her release.

Sources said the child has been rescued and is under parental care.

Basing on credible information and mobile phone call records, Golaghat police operated discreetly in Dimapur in order not to endanger the life of the abducted child and arrested the kidnappers on Tuesday.

According to Dimapur police, the accused persons were picked up from Miabazaar under East Police Station in Dimapur in connection with kidnap for ransom case. The four arrested persons were identified as Mantu Das (36), son of Monomohon Das, resident of Borpathar under Dubarani Police Station, Nitai Mazumder (26), son of late Subhash Mazumder, resident of of Kaziranga under Diring Chariali Police Station, Bijoy Debnath (32), son of Ranjit Das, resident of Borpathar under Dubarani Police Station and Uttam Kumar (45), son of Monoranjan Kumar, resident of Borpathar under Ulukhuwa Police Station.
