39 new cases in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Aug 18 - Meghalaya recorded 39 new COVID-19 positive cases today. Six patients also recovered from the infection. The total active cases in the State stands at 766 and the recoveries at 685.

Out of the total new cases, 27 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, including 11 BSF, seven armed force personnel and nine civilians. West Garo Hills reported seven, Ri-Bhoi district three cases and one case each was reported from East Jaintia Hills and South West Garo Hills districts.

Meanwhile, facilities for random tests have been set up at three locations in the State. The facilities have been set up at Khyndailad (Police Bazar), Anjalee Cinema and Motphran (close to Bara Bazaar).

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said: �Random testing facilities for hawkers, shopkeepers, porters and customers have been set up. The DC of East Khasi Hills district inspected the facility at the Police Bazar today.�
