AIZAWL, Oct 30 - Thirty-eight fresh infections of the novel coronavirus today took Mizoram�s virus count to 2,694. An official release stated that out of 1,582 samples tested during the last 24 hours, 38 new positive cases were detected.
Among the new patients, only two � both Assam Rifles personnel who had returned from Kerala and Bihar � have travel history. The rest 36 patients were locally infected, some of them from unknown sources.
The new patients also include five students, two teachers and two staff of two private schools. Five of them were infected at a private hospital in Aizawl.
Mizoram has now 435 active COVID-19 cases, while 2,258 people have recovered from the disease so far. The State has reported one virus fatality till date.
