38 in fray for 10 seats in Nagaon dist

NAGAON, Dec 3 - The District Election office here has published the total number of 38 final contesting candidates in 10 Tiwa Autonomous Council constituencies in Nagaon district.

Significantly earlier on November 28 last, the same office published a list of 30 qualified as well as valid contesting candidates in 8 TAC constituencies in the district and left two seats without declaring the names of candidates as the date of submission of nomination papers in those two seats was extended to November 28.

As per a report issued by Samar Kalita, District Information and Public Relations Officer, apart from the earlier list of 30 valid contesting candidates, the district election office today published another list of 8 qualified as well as final contesting candidates in two Tiwa Autonomous Council constituencies � Lutumari and Baropujia, taking the tally of final contesting candidates in all 10 constituencies to 38.

Samar Kalita, DIPRO, Nagaon told this correspondent that a total of 80,173 voters, out of which 40,553 male and 39,620 female voters will exercise their franchise at 102 polling stations in the district on December 17 next.
