3718 quarantined in Cachar

SILCHAR, April 9 - Even as there are no new cases recorded in the State or in Cachar district, as many as 108 persons have been sent on quarantine on Thursday taking the tally of quarantined lot to 3718 persons in the district. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert, NHM Cachar.

There are 34 persons kept under quarantine at Silchar Civil Hospital while 18 others are at NATRIP, he added.

On the other hand, Choudhury informed that along with other districts of the State, 2,844 people have completed their quarantine period on Thursday while another 381 persons shall complete their quarantine period on Friday.

Talking to the media at the conference hall of Circuit House here, Choudhury informed that even as the quantum of people shall complete their 14-day quarantine period, as per Government protocol, they have been advised for maintaining self quarantine for another 14 days. The health workers shall continue to monitor their health activities.

He further informed that the Health department here has received a list of 47 persons who have history of travelling with the COVID-19 positive patient from Hailakandi on the Silchar-Guwahati train. �We have received a list of 47 persons who shared the train journey with the Hailakandi COVID-19 positive patient in the same train. Out of the total, seven persons including three high risk cases are yet to be traced. Moreover, 10 cases out of the remaining 40 do not belong to Cachar district while four persons from the remaining lot who have been found to be bearing high risk have been sent to SMCH-COVID-19 hospital for swab sample tests,� Choudhury said. He added to inform that they might seek police assistance to find out the people who are untraced so far.
