3,713 recoveries recorded in Manipur

IMPHAL, Aug 24 - Altogether, 71 persons without any significant travel history, among 74 locals from the general population along with 42 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), tested positive for COVID-19, officials said today. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 5,362.

Confirming this, the COVID-19 common control room in Imphal vide a press release today evening said that 74 persons (48 male, 26 female) from the general population and 42 from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases during the past 24 hours.

They are from VRDL (Virus Research and Diagnosis Laboratories) of RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences), JNIMS (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences), JNIMS RAT, Raj Medicity, Babina Diagnostics Centre, Imphal East, Churachandpur and Thoubal.

�Three persons out of the general population are returnees from other states, whereas the rest 71 are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid care facilities,� it said.

The release also informed that there was no report of death due to COVID-19 on Sunday, adding that the cumulative number of deaths is 22. The state reported its first death due to COVID-19 on July 29 and first COVID-19 case on March 24.

Till date, the cumulative number of recovered cases is 3,713, while the number of active cases is 1,627, it added. The recovery rate is 69.24 per cent.
