36 nomination papers for phase I poll in Nagaon district declared valid

Nagaon, March 11: A total of 36 nomination papers filed for the first phase election in five constituencies to be held on March 27 were declared valid by the District Election Officer later at night on Wednesday after prolonged scrutiny while the nomination papers of AJP candidate in Batadroba constituency Arup Saikia and independent candidate in Rupahihat constituency were cancelled.

Significantly, a total of 38 candidates had submitted nomination papers in five constituencies of the district.

According to sources, a total of 10 candidates in Dhing LAC, 9 candidates in Batadroba LAC, 10 candidates in Rupahihat LAC and 4 candidates in Samaguri LAC submitted their nomination papers while 5 candidates submitted nominations in Kaliabor constituency.
