GUWAHATI, Aug 29 - A total of 36 beneficiaries were selected for financial aid under the Journalists Medical Welfare Scheme implemented by the Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Assam.
The selection committee meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Additional Chief Secretary, Information & Public Relations, approved a total amount of Rs 13,91,000 for the purpose, an official release said.
The scheme covers ailing journalists and their immediate dependent family members.
The selection committee has approved 36 applications received from ailing journalists who are accredited and recognised cardholders for the financial aid under the scheme.
The meeting was initiated by Anupam Chaudhury, Director, DIPR, Assam as member secretary of the committee.
