3,542 new ILP cards issued since January

AIZAWL, July 17 - At least 3,542 new Inner Line Permit cards have been issued to non-tribals and another 3,081 ILP cards have been renewed during January to May this year, official sources said.

According to officials of Aizawl DC ILP branch, ILP cards are all computerised and are prepared by Information and Communication department in collaboration with IT company from outside.

Central Committee of Young Mizo Association has warned non-tribals, who do not hold ILP cards and are illegally living in Mizoram, to immediately prepare their permit failing which the person may need to leave Mizoram.

CYMA secretary Lalhmachhuana said the organisation will carry out a massive campaign against non-tribals who possess invalid cards and those who are illegally settled in Mizoram.

Meanwhile, the youth wings of opposition Mizoram People�s Conference (MPC) and Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP) have expressed great concern over non-installation of ILP check post at Bairabi in Mizoram-Assam border.

A team of MPC and ZNP youth wings recently visited the railway station at Bairabi and held interaction with railway authority there. It is estimated that about 1,080 people are expected to land in Mizoram daily at the Bairbai railway station.

The youth wings demanded that immediate action should be taken for installation of ILP check post and proper check of ILP violators. � Newmai News
