GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - During the last five years, as many as 34,962 incidents of different crimes have been reported in the State. Against these cases, police arrested altogether 15,018 criminals and filed a total of 12,643 charge-sheets, said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary while replying to a question raised by MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha in the Assembly on Monday.
The minister further informed that in 2019, altogether 1,32,877 incidents of different crimes were reported in the State. Among those cases, 1,242 were murder cases, 1,952 were rape cases, 8,249 kidnapping and abduction cases, 212 were dacoity cases, 1,961 robbery cases, 1,566 extortion cases, 4,903 were burglary cases, 16,641 theft cases, 1,150 rioting cases, 2,392 were cases of criminal breach of trust, 7,077 were cheating cases and 73 were counterfeit-related cases.
