34 teachers felicitated by Golaghat district administration

DERGAON, Sept 6 - �Teachers are the backbone of the society. The role of teachers is judged on how much they have succeeded in the formation of a society. As education is a dynamic process so the teachers also need to be dynamic. They must adapt to the new challenges for providing quality education. They must also prepare themselves for the education for the tomorrow. At the same time, the primary duty of the Government is to resolve the problems of the teachers so that they do not have to go to the classrooms on an empty stomach.� This was stated by Retired Director Grade Scientist of NEIST, Jorhat Dr Choudhury Nath Saikia while delivering his speech as the appointed speaker at the central programme of Teacher�s Day organised by the district administration at the District Library, Golaghat on Tuesday.

In his speech, the noted scientist cited different examples of the teachers of his times who made a lasting imprint on his memory. The open meeting chaired by the Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Bothra and in which the welcome address was delivered by the Inspector of Schools, Golaghat, Hiren Gogoi was attended by a large gathering.

In the programme, 34 teachers serving of different schools of the district were accorded warm felicitations for their outstanding contributions to the field of teaching. Among them nine teachers are from Lower Primary schools, four from Middle English schools, five from Senior Basic schools, thirteen from high schools and three from Higher Secondary schools. Among the teachers felicitated, the Head Master of Dusutimukh High School, Sachi Gohain and the Head Master of Numaligarh High School, Mahen Saikia are also known for their social activities. Sachi Gohain is actively associated with the Academic Council of Golaghat district along with different examination bodies in different capacities as well as actively associated with leading nature organisation AASHRAY and Relation, an organisation for popularising Mathematics and Science. On the other hand Mahen Saikia is actively associated with several organisations in the locality and has also published four books as well as edited several magazines etc. The DEEO, Labja Jarambusa offered the vote of thanks.
