32 new cases in Mizoram

AIZAWL, Dec 8 - With 32 more people testing positive for COVID-19, Mizoram�s caseload today reached 3,968. The new cases were detected following testing of 1,557 samples during the last 24 hours. While 11 cases were detected at the Zoram Medical College RT-PCR laboratory, seven cases were detected at the TrueNat laboratories in the district hospitals and 14 cases through rapid antigen tests, an official release stated.

Fourteen of the new patients belong to the Aizawl district, eight are from Lawngtlai, five from Serchhip, four from Lunglei and one hails from Kolasib.

Twelve of the new patients have travel history including one Assam Rifles personnel, one BSF personnel and one Mizoram IR Bn personnel who had returned from election duty in Bihar. The policeman had tested positive on his return, but was discharged from a COVID Care Centre on December 2 after he tested negative. He voluntarily underwent a test at a TrueNat laboratory after his discharge and tested positive again, the official release added.

Mizoram now has 205 active cases, while 3,757 people have already recovered from the disease. The State has so far reported six COVID-19 fatalities.
