31 new cases in Mizoram

AIZAWL, Dec 16 - Mizoram today reported 31 new infections of COVID-19, which took the State�s tally to 4,080.

The new cases were detected after testing of 1,512 samples at the Zoram Medical College RT-PCR laboratory, Aizawl, TrueNat laboratories of district hospitals as well as through rapid antigen tests in different districts.

Of the 31 cases, 11 each were reported from Aizawl and Lunglei districts, eight from Lawngtlai district and one from Serchhip district.

Sixteen of the new patients, including one BSF personnel, five migrant workers and eight employees of a construction company, came from outside Mizoram. The rest were infected through local transmission. The new patients also include three minors aged one and seven years of age.

Mizoram�s active cases today stood at 179, while 3,894 people have already recovered from the disease so far. The State has reported seven COVID-19 fatalities.

Mizoram has so far tested 1,67,275. The State�s positivity rate is currently 2.44 per cent.
