31 new cases in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, July 16 - Thirty-one new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Meghalaya in the last 24 hours, taking the total active cases in the State to 326.

State Health Minister AL Hek said that two persons have also recovered since Wednesday.

The total positive cases in Meghalaya have touched 377.

As many as 25,263 samples have been sent for testing so far, out of which 24,597 samples came out negative.

The results of 289 samples are awaited, Hek added.

The minister pointed out that there are two serious cases and one of them has been put on ventilator.

He said that random testing is on in the State capital and 50 people from each cluster are being tested.

Random testing is being conducted at places close to the BSF�s frontier headquarters at Mawpat and Umpling here.

Contact tracing is also on, especially in the NEIGRIHMS where some health staff have tested positive for COVID-19.
