30 women undergo training in weaving

GUWAHATI, Sept 23 - A 15-day weaving of extra weft design (draw boy) training programme, conducted by the Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Kamrup (M) of the Assam Gramin Vikash Bank concluded on Sunday.

The training, imparted to 30 women of the district, was conducted with the technical support of the Handloom Research & Design Centre under the State Directorate of Handloom & Textile. It was sponsored by NABARD, Guwahati.

The programme was inaugurated by SS Saha, GM, NABARD, Regional Office, Guwahati; SS Singh, Chairman, Assam Gramin Vikash Bank and Ramkrishna Sarma, Regional Manager, Regional Office, Guwahati.

At the valedictory function, GC Brahma, Joint Director, Handloom & Textile Department, NN Baishya, General Manager, Assam Gramin Vikash Bank, Mahesh Baruah, Senior Manager, Chandmari branch, Pranita Baruah, FM, Handloom Research & Design Centre, Ambari, along with other dignitaries, were present to encourage the trainees.

The dignitaries congratulated the trainees on completing the training successfully and urged them to start business right away as with time they might have a tendency to get absorbed again in their day-to-day tasks.

DC Nath, director of the institute, said 15 trainees were given loan sanction letters through the Chandmari branch of the Assam Gramin Vikash Bank. The rest of the trainees will be provided loan for their activities soon. These trainees will receive constant support and guidance from RSETI officials for the next two years.
