SILCHAR, April 4 - Following the directions of the Ministry of Railways, the NF Railway is preparing isolation coaches to facilitate treatment of persons affected with COVID-19. As many as 30 coaches at the Silchar Railway Station would be transformed into isolation coaches, said Coach Depot Officer Rabindro Pator.
Talking to The Assam Tribune, Pator said, �We are converting 27 sleeper coaches and three general coaches as isolation coaches for quarantine purposes. Eight have been completed, and 50 men are engaged in the task at the coaching depot for completing our target of 30 coaches within a week.�
�We are providing good quality water taps, bathroom, mugs, mosquito nets and the hygiene has been specially looked after. There will be a medical compartment in the coaches with oxygen cylinders in association with our medical department,� he said, adding that since the coaches are mobile, they could be used anywhere as per requirement.
