NAGAON, Sept 2 - During routine checking, Nagaon Borghat Police on Friday night seized four cattle-laden Bolero pick-up vans and arrested 14 cattle smugglers from Borghat bypass Chariali.
Police subsequently rescued 30 cattle from those Bolero pick-up vans.
According to sources, police picked up the vehicles near Borghat Chariali when the cattle were being carried in the four Bolero pick-up vans bearing registration numbers AS 02VC 8266, AS02CC 0141, AS02CC 1808 and AS02BC 7208 towards Jorabat from Khatuwal area under Samaguri.
Police later arrested 14 persons from the vehicles. They were identified as Ahiya Ahmed, Rofikul Islam, Roshidul Haque, Abdul Rahman and Mokbul Hussain, among others. All of them were produced in court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
