3 women labourers of Bordubi TE die

DOOMDOOMA, June 14 - In a tragic inciden, three women labourers died at Bordubi Tea Estate of MK Sah Export Ltd under Phillobari PS of Tinsukia district on Thursday.

According to reports available, the three deceased, namely, Dirang Soymrum (65), Phillomina Soymrum (45) and Sarathi Kharia (44) were plucking tea leaves along with other female labourers in the garden. At noon they took their meal in the garden after which they fell ill along with four others.

They were immediately rushed to the garden hospital, from where they were referred to Doomdooma FRU where Phillomina breathed her last. Among the other six , three were immediately referred to Tinsukia Civil Hospital as their condition deteriorated. But Sarathi died on the way while Dirang died at Tinsukia Civil Hospital. The other critically ill patient was sent to AMCH, Dibrugarh.

The cause of death of these female labourers is yet to be ascertained. Though it is suspected to be a case of food poisoning, but extreme heat may also be another cause behind the incident. The deceased were the residents of Line No. 4 of the garden.
