SILCHAR, Oct 3 - Amidst public concern in recent times about influx of Rohingyas into Assam, Karimganj Police visited Sonamura, a place along the India-Bangladesh border, to identify miscreants who are involved in facilitating infiltration through the unfenced portion of the international border into Assam.
According to Karimganj Superintendent of Police Gaurav Updhayay, three touts involved in such criminal activity, and who were absconding so far, were nabbed in an ambush jointly laid by Karimganj Police and 145 Bn of BSF in association with Tripura Police at NC Nagar in Sonamura on Sunday night.
�Considering the current situation, we have intensified vigil along the border. The three touts who were absconding were apprehended in the operation led by the Officer Incharge of Bajaricherra police outpost.
Those nabbed have been identified as Sahajahan Choudhary alias Saju, Faruk Mia Choudhury and Suman Choudhary, residents of Sonamura under Sipahijala district of Tripura. Police along with BSF, SIB and DSB were interrogating the former at Bazaricherra Police Station during the time of filing this report and investigation into the issue is on in order to find out further linkages inside Assam,� the SP informed.
