GUWAHATI, Jan 9 � Three colleges of the State have been accredited with �A� grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) on Saturday.
The colleges include the historic Cotton College, besides Dimoria College and Devraj Roy College of Golaghat.
While Cotton College secured 3.39 points, Dimoria and Devraj Roy College bagged 3.10 and 3.11 points respectively.
Asked to react, Dr Indra Bhattacharya, principal, Cotton College attributed the recognition to each member of the institution, stating, �Everyone involved with the college has put in their best efforts to make Cotton College what it is today.�
�We were already a grade �A� college but the criteria of accreditation this time has changed, which is why it gives us even more pride,� Dr Bhattacharya told The Assam Tribune.
�We will continue to work hard to ensure that quality education is imparted,� he stated.
Principal of Dimoria College Ram Charan Bharali, when contacted, expressed his happiness saying that the college has always strived for excellence and it was one of the few colleges to have given the College with Potential for Excellence award given by the UGC.
�Our college, though is based in a rural area, has never compromised with quality education. We have abide by every recommendation of the NAAC, especially in running courses in Innovative and Emerging areas, which perhaps has work in our favour,� the principal stated.
�We are really happy and such recognition would help us improve further,� Bharali said. Dimoria College, it may be mentioned, has also conducted an exchange college with a German-based educational institute.
The principal of Devraj Roy College, however, could not be contacted.
