3 Rohingyas including a woman held at Moreh

IMPHAL, April 8 - Manipur police have arrested three Rohingyas including a woman from Moreh, the border commercial town, police said on Sunday.

They were arrested in an operation based on reliable information that some Rohingyas from Myanmar are staying at Muslim Basti, Moreh Ward No. 5 with trafficked girls, on Saturday around 8.30 pm.

Tengnoupal district SP Dr S Ibomcha told media that the two (Rohingya)men were arrested from a rented house at Moreh ward No. 5 for their alleged involvement in human trafficking while the woman was held for not having valid document.

The two arrested men have been identified as Mohd Saifullah (34) of Arakan district under Maundaw police station, Baguna Nulafara, Myanmar and Md Salam (25) of Arakan district under Teri police station, Butidong, Myanmar. The woman who is suspected to be trafficked by the two was one Toiba Hatu alias Nargis (20) of Maungdaw Baguna Madila Bhara, Myanmar.

The arrested men have disclosed that they along with one Md Ismail of Mayang Imphal Bengoon under Imphal West district were involved in trafficking of Rohingya girls from Myanmar to different parts of the world including India, the SP said.

But the owner of the rented house one Maulana Ahmed Hussain of Moreh ward No. 2 and Md Ismail are still at large, he added. A case has been registered at Moreh police station and investigation is on.

One card issued by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and one Aadhar card have been recovered from the possession of Mohd Saifullah. But Md Salam and Toiba Hatu failed to produce any valid documents, he added.

On March 22, Manipur police had arrested three Rohingyas after they entered Moreh.
