MIRZA, Oct 15 - Three members of a family were killed on the spot and one injured critically when the SUV (AS-01-AP-4588) they were travelling in, hit a sand-laden truck (AS 01AY-7303) at Bortejpur near here in NH-37 under Palasbari Police Station in Kamrup district at around 2 pm today.
The deceased have been identified as Dhruba Mahanta (55), his son Arnab Mahanta (20) and his daughter Sumi Mahanta (25).
Dhruba Mahanta�s wife Rimpi Mahanta, received serious injuries and was rushed to the GMCH and from there she was taken to the GNRC Hospital.
The driver of the Xylo has fled the spot soon after the accident, sources said.
The Mahanta family, from Hatigarh area of Guwahati, was returning home after attending a wedding ceremony at Chhaygaon.
