ITANAGAR, Aug 21 - Assam Rifles troops on Sunday apprehended two hardcore cadres of NSCN-IM. They also nabbed one cadre and an overground worker (OGW) of NSCN (K), besides busting an NSCN(R) hideout in Arunachal Pradesh, a Press release said.
Based on intelligence about the presence of cadres in Bera village, Assam Rifles troops swiftly launched an operation and apprehended two militants with a pistol, live ammunition, extortion notes, extorted money amounting to Rs 25,000 and other incriminating evidence.
On spot interrogation, the apprehended militants admitted allegiance to NSCN(IM). One of them was apprehended from Khonsa in 2015 but has been on bail since February 2017.
In a similar operation, launched by Assam Rifles AR and Jagun Police, apprehended a cadre of NSCN(K) and an OGW of the outfit with extortion notes and other incriminating evidence at Phulbari village.
The Assam Rifles in another operation surrounded a militant hideout in the early hours of Monday. However, using cover of darkness and foliage, the underground cadres managed to escape, the release said.
