Hailakandi, March 16: Three nomination papers have been rejected in Hailakandi legislative assembly constituency. Official sources said that the nomination papers of three independent candidates have been rejected after scrutiny here on Monday.
Returning Officer of Hailakandi constituency, Megh Nidhi Dahal, rejected the nominations filed by independent candidates Jilkadar Ali Barbhuiya, Mosaid Ali Mazumder and Abdul Kalam Md.Hussain Mazumder after scrutiny.
With this, the total number of candidates for the Hailakandi constituency stands at 13.
However, there were no rejection of nominations filed by candidates from recognised political parties and independents for Katlicherra and Algapur constituencies of the district. There are 16 candidates for Katlicherra and 19 candidates for Algapur now in the fray.
