IMPHAL, Aug 1 - Three new positive cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) have been detected in Churachandpur district of Manipur. A JE patient had died in the district few days back.
In view of the development, Commissioner (Health) PK Singh and Director Health services Dr O Ibomcha have rushed to the district headquarters, 65 km from here to take stock of the situation, on Sunday. A medical team is accompanying the top officials.
The team held a meeting with the District Health authority and decided to intensify fogging in vulnerable locations of the district by adding three more fogging machines. DC of Churachand-pur had directed closure of all educational institutions to prevent the spread of the virus for a week till August 3.
