JALAH, May 6 � Two suspected NDFB ultras were killed in an encounter at Pagladiapar Nayabasti under Borbori police station in Baksa around 9.30pm yesterday.
Police said a joint team of police and Army personnel were on regular duty in the area when they saw four youths in two bicycles approaching and they asked them to stop. But the youths fired upon the security personnel while trying to flee forcing the security personnel to retaliate. In the exchange of fire, two youths were killed. Two pistols, 1 grenade, 3 detonators, 2 mobile sets, 3 live rounds of ammunition of AK-56 rifle , demand note and organizational writing padswere recovered from the slain militants. They are yet to be identified.
Our Kokrajhar correspondent adds: In a major breakthrough one hardcore NDFB cadre was killed in an encounter with a joint team of Army and police personnel ties morning at about 6.35 at Gwjwnpuri area under Bogrobari police station in Kokrajhar district, police sources informed.
According to sources, acting on a tipoff, a team of Army and Police carried out a search operation in the area and during search operation the security personnel saw two NDFB ultras and asked them to stop but the duo tried to flee by firing towards the security forces. The security forces also retaliated and as a result one of the ultras died on the spot while the other managed to escape under the cover of dense forest.
Later police recovered one 7.65 mm pistol with two magazines, seven rounds of live ammunition, one chinese grenade etc. from the spot. The slain ultra has been identified as Rinay Brahma alias Udang Brahma (27).
