3 Nagaland villages declared tobacco-free

DIMAPUR, March 10 - Three Nagaland villages � Nsunyu, Chunlikha and Likhwenmchu � under Tseminyu sub-division under Kohima district were declared tobacco-free recently, taking the total number of tobacco-free villages in Nagaland to 12, an official release said.

Nagaland Tobacco Control Programme State Nodal Officer and joint director of Health and Family Welfare department Dr Hotokhu Chishi made the declaration at a tobacco-free declaration programme at Nsunyu village community Hall.

In his address, Chishi said Tseminyu sub-division has now earned the distinction of having four tobacco-free villages among the 12 in the entire State. Kohima district Nagaland Tobacco Control Programme nodal officer Dr Arenla Thong gave a power-point presentation on community sensitisation as awareness to control use of tobacco.
