AIZAWL, April 12 - The three accused in the murder of C Lalrempuia, 38, who died after being brutally assaulted on the night of March 23, have been arrested on Wednesday, police said today.
Police arrested the three accused, identified as Lalhriatkima, 21, Lalrinawma, 22, and Runhleihfaia, 25, all residents of Dinthar locality in Aizawl. They were arrested on Wednesday, 19 days after a murder case was filed in the police station.
The victim was married and lived with his wife at Chanmari West locality. He was a driver for Zawlbuk Agency. �The victim was buying things from a shop. When he turned back to go, he accidentally bumped into one of the three youths. He repeatedly said sorry to them, but the miscreants continuously beat him,� an eye-witness had reportedly said.
With multiple injuries on his head, the victim managed to walk home. He was rushed to Aizawl civil hospital in the night and a CT scan was performed on him and was diagnosed with intracranial bleeding. He was operated on the night itself and was admitted into the ICU. He never regained consciousness and succumbed to his injuries on April 6. Sources said CCTV camera installed in the area where the incident took place helped the police in nabbing the culprits. The culprits have been remanded in police custody.
