IMPHAL, May 24 - Three more persons, including a woman, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur, taking the State�s tally to 32.
With four patients discharged from hospitals, the total number of active cases in the State now stands at 28.
A press release issued by Additional Director and spokesperson of State Health Department Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang here today said that two persons � a 32-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman � were tested positive last night at the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
The man is from Jiribam district and the woman is from Thoubal district.
Furthermore, a youth from Churachandpur district, aged 18, was tested positive at the VRDL at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) here last night, the release said. He had returned from Chennai recently.
�The total number of COVID-19 cases has increased to 32. Currently there are 28 active cases,� the release added.
On May 23, three positive cases were reported in the State while two other COVID-19 patients, who were undergoing treatment, were tested negative and subsequently discharged from hospital. The current recovery rate in the State is 13.79 per cent.
The number of COVID-19 cases in the State is on the rise since the stranded people of the State started returning from various places. According to official reports, more than 10,000 people have returned to Manipur so far.
Meanwhile, a special train carrying stranded people of the State left Delhi railway station on May 23 and it is scheduled to arrive at Jiribam railway station on Monday.
So far, 4,583 persons were tested for COVID-19 while 2,18,167 were screened at various entry points to the State since January. Altogether 8,023 persons are at community quarantine facilities, 1,820 at government quarantine centres while 3,654 have completed their quarantine period.
