3 LACs in Morigaon goes to poll

JAGIROAD, April 10 - The three constituencies under Morigaon district namely, 79-Jagiroad (SC) LAC, 80- Morigaon LAC and 81-Laharighat LAC are ready for the second phase of Assembly polls to be held on Monday.

There are 243 polling stations under 79-Jagiroad LAC from where 1,93,994 voters, including 99,069 male and 94,925 female, will decide the fate of seven candidates.

In 80-Morigaon LAC, there are 216 polling stations and 1,59,766 voters, including 81,118 male and 78,648 female, will choose their representative from among seven candidates.

In 81-Laharighat LAC, there are 200 polling stations. As many as 1,53,724 voters, including 80,955 male and 72,769 female, will select their leader from among five candidates.

The total number of �D� voters identified in the three constituencies is 6,143. About 3,500 polling officials have been deployed in 659 polling booths under the three LACs in Morigaon district.

The district police administration has taken every possible measure to maintain the law and order situation in the three constitutes.

The 79-Jagiroad constituency is likely to witness a straight fight between BJP candidate Piyush Hazarika and Congress party candidate Bibekananda Doloi.

Meanwhile, more than 3,000 polling and presiding officers along with the EVMs have started leaving for respective booths in Morigaon district from the early morning on Sunday. Among the 5,74,484 voters in the district, 3,735 are the first-time voters.
