KOKRAJHAR, March 22 � In a fresh case of witch-hunting, three members of a family have been brutally killed on the suspicion of practising witchcraft at Monglajhora village in Kokrajhar district. The slain were identified as Rajendra Brahma, Bangali Brahma and Malati Brahma.
Local people alleged that miscreants killed the trio and buried their bodies at an undisclosed location. After receiving the information, the police rushed to the village today and picked up 11 people for interrogation in this connection. However, the police have not been able to recover any of the three bodies till the filing of this report. A search operation is on to trace the bodies, police sources said.
Meanwhile, sensation prevails in and around Kokrajhar following the incident. Several organisations have condemned the killings and demanded stringent punishment of the culprits involved in the incident.
