AIZAWL, Feb 27 - Three persons were killed and two others injured when a Mahindra Bolero SUV, which was part of the entourage of Mizoram Home Minister Lalchamliana, rolled down a hill in Lunglei district of south Mizoram this morning, the police said.
The vehicle skidded off the road near the Tawipuri North village when the minister�s convoy was on its way to Aizawl from Vathuampui village in Lawngtlai district near the Indo-Myanmar border, they added.
Those killed in the accident are police driver Havildar Lalchungnunga (46), and Mizo National Front workers R Lalnunsanga (55) and Ropianga (72). All of them were residents of Aizawl.
The condition of the two injured is stated to be serious. They are undergoing treatment at the Lunglei district hospital.
The Home Minister had visited Vathuampui village on Tuesday, where Army personnel are reportedly conducting a training exercise.
