IMPHAL, Aug 24 � Three persons were injured in a bomb explosion here this morning. Unidentified persons exploded a bomb believed to be an improvised explosive device at Naoremthong Laishram Leirak area close to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West district around 5.30 am today, sources said.
The explosion occurred soon after two vehicles belonging to 143 battalion CRPF passed the area, sources disclosed. The CRPF vehicles were on their way to collect water from a nearby location. Three persons sustained injuries in the explosion.
No militant group operating in the State has claimed responsibility for the incident till the report goes to the press.
Meanwhile, the State police have recovered two hand grenades from two places in Imphal. The first one was recovered from the staircase of Sikkim Manipal University Manipur Campus at Thangmeiband here this morning while the other one was found in the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences hospital campus this afternoon.
